Lourie Geldenhuys is the Technical Director for Water and Power of Knight Piésold Southern Africa and is based in the Johannesburg office. He has two decades of experience in water and municipal services engineering, which includes management and full project life cycle in water and wastewater treatment works, reservoirs, pump stations, large diameter pipelines, and municipal infrastructure for municipalities, water boards and private developers in South Africa, Lesotho, Namibia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, and the Netherlands. Large projects include 250Ml/day water treatment works extension, 210 Ml post tension reinforced concrete reservoir, 10 km x 1,700 mm and 16.5 km x 1,800 mm diameter steel pipelines, water conservation and demand management, large diameter outfall sewers, storm water systems, and water and wastewater master planning for Metro and District Municipalities.
As Technical Director, Lourie is responsible for risk management, quality control, technical excellence, and business development on water and power projects for Knight Piésold’s Southern Africa offices and relevant projects implemented in Sub-Saharan Africa. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Pretoria and is a registered professional engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa.
