Tom Kerr is President of the Denver practice of Knight Piésold and Co. He is a Geotechnical Engineer with 28 years of experience in the design, construction, operation and closure of geotechnical, water and environmental projects for the mining industry. His principal areas of expertise are in tailings and heap leach management facilities and he has been responsible for the planning, design and operational assistance on many such facilities around the world. In tailings management, his work has included sub-aerial, cycloned, thickened and paste projects. Tom is active in a number of technical initiatives for the mining industry and is a recent past member of the Mining Association of Canada's Tailings Working Group.

Tom is a licensed Civil Engineer in Colorado, California, Alaska, Michigan, British Columbia and Ontario and has a M.Sc. in Soil Mechanics from Imperial College, London, United Kingdom.
