Global Career Development Program

Want to experience the world?

Experiencing life and work in locations other than those we are familiar with can have a lasting and valuable impact on professional growth. With offices located all over the world, we provide temporary transfers between offices for suitably qualified and motivated individuals. These assignments offer a wealth of opportunities for participants, from experiencing other cultures and customs, to working on the projects unique to those regions.

Testimonials

Veronique Daigle's transfer from Canada to Ghana

"As a means to find a challenge and better understanding of our foreign offices, I participated in a transfer from the Canada office to the Ghana office. My aspirations were simply to insert myself into this new environment, develop technical skills through the projects, and contribute to the growth of the Ghanaian office. During the time I spent there, I worked on projects involving dams, tailing storage facilities, inspections and storm water management. I really enjoyed working with our colleagues in Ghana and being involved in several aspects of project development. This certainly was a rewarding experience."

Scott Rees' transfer from Canada to South Africa

"I saw Knight Piésold's Global Career Development Program as an opportunity to work towards my P.Eng designation while gaining valuable personal and professional experience in a new and exciting environment. Initially based in Vancouver, I spent 21 months in the Rivonia office between September 2008 and May 2010 before returning home.  During my office transfer, I was involved with a number of projects ranging from high level conceptual designs through to detailed designs and construction in the mining and energy sectors.

"Kayaking the Zambezi had always been one of my dreams and it was great to finally experience it.  I also had the pleasure of kayaking the White Nile in Uganda and a variety of exceptional rivers in South Africa.  I travelled to ten countries during my time in Africa, and met many great friends along the way."

Ray Dorow's transfer from USA to South Africa

"To me, an attractive part of working for Knight Piésold Consulting is the opportunity for working on projects overseas and in relatively remote parts of the world.  Although travelling to every project you work on is not likely, it seems that the prospect of travelling is almost guaranteed with your terms of employment.

"After almost two years as a project engineer with Knight Piésold Consulting in Denver, Colorado, I joined the company’s Global Career Development Program (GCDP) and headed to South Africa for an eighteen month transfer period to work in the Mining Division at the Rivonia (Johannesburg) office.  Shortly after our arrival to South Africa, my wife and I began travelling throughout the country.  We have now seen some of South Africa’s most beautiful areas and enjoyed attending a few FIFA World Cup matches in 2010.

"Working and living in a foreign country has provided me with ample challenges and opportunities to learn, grow, and share ideas with some of our company’s brightest minds.

"I will soon leave Knight Piésold, RSA and will rejoin my home office in Denver with many pleasant memories; the experience has been rewarding in many ways. I value the experience I have received in South Africa and I’m confident that it will be very useful to me in my future endeavors."
