Project Description: Wind power has potential to abate costs associated with consumption of diesel, which is either barged of flown into the many remote Alaskan villages.
Knight Piésold’s Role: Knight Piésold was retained to investigate the feasibility of renewable resources for electric power in select communities across the Borough. In 2009, knight Piésold started a Regional Wind Resource Assessment by acquiring and performing quality control on existing data in the region; siting and installing meteorological towers; and producing detailed wind resource maps through the software modelling tool WAsP®.
