Project Description:  The Ntimbale Dam Project on the Tati River was undertaken by the Government of Botswana to improve water supply to villages in the North East District and adjacent villages in the Central District. The dam is a 34 m high, roller compacted concrete dam with a central ogee spillway.  The project also includes a 20 m high, clay core rockfill saddle dam, low level outlets, draw-off works, access roads, two pumpstations, a pipeline and a water treatment facility.

Knight Piésold’s Role: Knight Piesold implemented feasibility studies in 1996, detailed design in 1998, and construction supervision in 2004. The project also included raw water and treated water pumpstations, distribution pumpstation, raw water delivery pipeline, access road and treatment plant. Full engineering services and project management from inception to commissioning of project was provided.

The Ntimbale Dam project was the winner of the 2009 CESA award for Engineering Excellence.
