The Constancia Project is located in southeastern Peru, in the Chamaca and Livitaca Districts, Province of Chumbivilcas, approximately 600 km southeast of Lima at elevations of 4,000 m to 4,500 m above sea level. The project is comprised of an open pit mine, crushing plant, tailings storage facility, mine waste rock storage areas, water reservoir, process water ponds, drainage channels, sediment control ponds, haul roads, access and construction roads, and landfill/waste management facilities.

Knight Piésold’s Role

Knight Piésold was engaged to provide support in preparation of various permitting documents and modifications to the environmental and social impact assessment. In addition, Knight Piésold has been engaged to provide specialist engineering support to complete detailed engineering designs and to develop construction packages for the following project components:

  • Tailings management facility
  • Waste rock facility
  • Waste rock facility containment and retention ponds
  • Open pit slope
  • Bog storage facility and topsoil stockpiles
  • Landfill
  • Internal access roads and haul roads
  • Site-wide water management planning, including the design of ponds, water diversion and collection channels, and other hydraulic features
  • Erosion and sediment control planning
