Lourie Geldenhuys holds the position of Technical Director for Water and Power for Knight Piésold Southern Africa and operates from the Johannesburg office. He has over 21 years post graduate experience in water and municipal services engineering, which includes project management and detailed engineering from project inception to completion. Since joining Knight Piésold in October 2016, Lourie has been responsible for risk management, quality control, business development, and promoting technical excellence on water and power projects for Knight Piésold’s Southern Africa offices and relevant projects implemented in Sub-Saharan Africa.
His involvement in major civil engineering projects includes the prestigious Lesotho Highlands Water Project – Phase 2: Diversion Tunnels and Transfer Tunnel; a 250 Ml/day water treatment works extension and 210 Ml post tension reinforced concrete reservoir; large diameter steel pipeline and outfall sewers design and construction; water conservation and demand management; storm water management systems; and water and wastewater master planning for Metro and District Municipalities. He has been involved on projects in several countries, including South Africa, Lesotho, Namibia, Tanzania, Botswana, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and the Netherlands.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Pretoria, is a registered professional engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa, and is a registered professional construction project manager with the South African Council for Project and Construction Management Professions.
