The Back River Gold Project consists of eight gold deposits located in a remote region of southwestern Nunavut, Canada. The region is characterized by deep, continuous permafrost. Sabina Gold & Silver Corporation is proposing to mine the deposits using a combination of open pit and underground methods.
Knight Piésold was retained to provide geomechanical, geotechnical, and hydrogeological services to support the pre‑feasibility and feasibility studies for open pit and underground (post pillar cut and fill, open stoping and drift and fill) mining methods. Knight Piésold also completed a pre-feasibility level design for the waste and water management facilities and developed a pre‑feasibility closure and reclamation plan and cost estimate.
