Knight Piésold Canada began operations in Vancouver in 1975, and we have been calling the 750 West Pender building home for 25 of the past 42 years. The office building is located in the city’s vibrant downtown, close to many arts, entertainment, and sports venues as well as near major hubs for public transportation. The office is housed in three floors of the 17-storey office tower.
We have grown from one talented individual into a dynamic team of over 125 members, supporting full-cycle project development in the mining and power industries. We have worked on hundreds of surface and underground mining projects throughout British Columbia and beyond. Our mining team includes specialists in project management, environmental assessments, geotechnical engineering, geomechanical engineering, and hydrogeology. In addition, we have been in the forefront of the power industry in British Columbia for over 20 years and have been sought out to work on projects around the world. Our power team provides comprehensive renewable energy development solutions, from project identification, environmental studies, and permitting to feasibility studies, detailed engineering, and construction.
Our team has been recognized provincially and nationally for technical excellence on projects we have worked on. In 2017, we received a Tree for Life Award and an Award of Excellence at the Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards and an Award of Merit at ACEC-BC's Awards for Engineering Excellence. We also received multiple awards of merit and awards of excellence for the Capilano Break Head Tank and Energy Recovery Facility, Kokish River Hydroelectric Project, East Toba and Montrose Hydroelectric Project, Upper Stave Hydroelectric Project, Mount Milligan Waste and Water Management Plan, and McNair Creek Hydroelectric Project.
Our office utilizes a one-team approach in everything we do, working as a unit in each project and as an office as a whole. To strengthen this approach, we engage in various team-building activities and charitable initiatives, such as a summer picnic, a weekend sailing adventure, a toy drive, and a meal program. We also support our team’s well-being through an in-office his and her shower/locker rooms with towel service, a secure bike room equipped with repair tools, and a mobile bike repair service that visits twice a year. In addition, our office has been named as one of BC’s Top Employers and Canada’s Top 100 Employers.
Our office is fully certified to ISO 9001 Quality Management, ISO 14001 Environmental Management, and OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management standards. We are also certified under Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia’s Organizational Quality Management Program.
