Principal Civil EngineerJustin Michael Teixeira is a Principal Civil Engineer based in Knight Piésold’s Sandton office. He specializes in tailings storage facilities (TSF), having participated in all life cycle phases of TSFs from concept to closure. Justin has extensive knowledge on the day-to-day operations of TSFs, with a focus on quality control and risk management. He has been involved in research and development to determine innovative solutions to optimise deposition efficiency and water conservation. He is familiar with soil laboratory tests, in-situ test methods, and liquefaction analyses to determine tailings stability under both drained and undrained conditions. He has designed and monitored both wet and dry deposition facilities, upstream, centreline, and downstream facilities built with both tailings and externally sourced material.
