The Role:

You will be part of a multi-disciplined Water Resources team. This position will focus on understanding and managing groundwater resources including assessing groundwater flow, quality, and interaction with surrounding environments. The applicant must have the ambition to expand the scope of his/her current expertise.  

 Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct hydrogeological studies to evaluate groundwater quality and availability, flow patterns, and aquifer characterization.  
  • Prepare models to simulate the flow of water under fully saturated and variably saturated conditions.  
  • Participate in the analysis and interpretation of data and observations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. 
  • Support water resources team to develop projects including design and testing. Assist in the development of innovative solutions in the water resources discipline.  
  • Conduct technical proposal writing and document preparation. 
  • Conduct site visits for inspections, fieldwork, and meetings. This will include travel to domestic and international destinations. 
  • Participate as a productive and valued member of larger teams. 

 Requirements: 

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related science or engineering field. Master of Science (MS) or greater strongly preferred. 
  • Solid understanding of hydrogeological principles, aquifer systems, and groundwater-surface water interactions. 
  • Understanding of geologic principles, including structural geology, field mapping and exploration tools such as drilling and geophysical surveying. 
  • Strong analytical and numerical modeling skills.  
  • Proficiency using AutoCAD, GIS and other specialized analysis software.  
  • Availability to work full-time and travel to project sites as required. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master of Science (B.S) degree or greater in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related science or engineering field.  
  • Coursework or hands-on experience in groundwater modeling using MODFLOW or FEFLOW, preferably in support of the mining industry is strongly preferred. 
  • Previous industry experience in mining-related hydrogeology projects is a plus. 
  • Familiarity with environmental permitting and regulatory processes related to water management. 

Work Environment:

Work will be in both office and field environment with travel to various outdoor sites determined by project needs. Adherence to safety standards including those of the firm, MSHA, OSHA is mandatory.

Compensation:

In accordance with Colorado state law, the following Annual compensation range is applicable for the job and Colorado location associated with this requisition: $93,000-$118,000/year. Actual compensation may vary from posted hiring range based upon compensable factors, including: experience, education, and skill level.
