About the Position

The successful candidate will play a key role in a wide variety of projects and join our dedicated team of professionals, working in a multidisciplinary team environment to support our clients in the mining and power & water industries. The ideal candidate will be proactive, motivated, and ready to mentor and support the professional development of junior engineers and scientists. This position includes opportunities for domestic and international travel and may involve fieldwork assignments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop numerical groundwater models for mining and water resource projects (e.g., MODFLOW and FEFLOW) to support effects assessments, permitting, and mine development
  • Analyze hydrogeological data sets (pumping tests, packer tests, water quality) to support assessments and development of conceptual hydrogeological models
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations to support environmental impact assessments, feasibility studies, and mine water management
  • Work collaboratively with geotechnical, environmental, and mine planning teams
  • Mentor junior colleagues with numerical modelling skills
  • Work in the consulting industry and deal directly with clients
Requirements
  • Master’s degree with a specialization in hydrogeology
  • Technical proficiency in numerical groundwater modelling (MODFLOW, FEFLOW)
  • Experience developing codes and scripts (Python, FloPy, or others) is an asset
  • Mining industry experience is a benefit
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Geoscientist or Professional Engineer in BC
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience
  • Strong technical skills, with practical, solution-focused problem-solving and a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Pay and Benefits

The estimated base pay range for this position is $100,000 to $135,000 CAD. Variations in salary offered will be dependent on relevant knowledge, experience, and skill level. KP’s total compensation and benefits also include the following:
