Knight Piésold is seeking a Technical Writer/Editor to join our Denver team and help shape the quality and consistency of communications across a wide range of engineering and consulting projects. About This Role

As a Technical Writer/Editor, you will play a key role in checking the quality, consistency, and professionalism of both internal and client-facing communications. Working collaboratively with technical professionals, project teams, and business leaders across the organization, you will help transform complex information into clear, accurate, and engaging documents.

In this role, you will:

  • Edit, proofread, and format a variety of documents, including technical reports, proposals, presentations, marketing materials, and other business communications.
  • Review content for grammar, punctuation, spelling, readability, clarity, consistency, and adherence to company style standards.
  • Collaborate with authors and subject matter experts to improve document quality, organization, and communication effectiveness.
  • Verify facts, references, data, tables, figures, and other content to confirm accuracy and consistency throughout documents.
  • Maintain and enhance document templates, formatting standards, and style guides to support a professional and consistent brand identity.
  • Check that deliverables meet established quality standards and are free of errors prior to distribution.
  • Coordinate multiple writing, editing, and document production projects while balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Develop and maintain writing resources, guides, and best practices to support employees across the organization.
  • Provide training, coaching, and guidance on technical writing, document preparation, and company formatting standards.
  • Conduct research and gather supporting information as needed to verify content and strengthen written materials.
  • Support project teams with document management and document control activities, including maintaining document logs and tracking issued and received documents.
  • Confirm compliance with company processes, ISO requirements, and project-specific documentation standards.
  • Assist with other administrative or project-related tasks, as needed.

Compensation (Colorado)

In accordance with Colorado state law, the following hourly compensation range is applicable for the job and Colorado location associated with this requisition: $35-$45/hour. Actual compensation may vary from posted hiring range based on compensable factors, including experience, education, and skill level.

Qualifications and Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Technical Writing, or a related field, along with professional writing, editing, and proofreading experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Technical Writer and/or Technical Editor, preferably within the engineering, environmental, construction, or consulting industry.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of grammar, punctuation, syntax, and style.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, edit, and manage complex technical documents for a variety of audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail with a passion for accuracy, consistency, and quality.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical subject matter experts and multiple document authors.
  • Ability to adapt writing and editing approaches to different authors, disciplines, document types, and client requirements.
  • Creative, curious, and able to understand and communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat and Bluebeam Revu preferred.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain professionalism when providing editorial guidance and feedback.
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours as needed to support project deadlines and deliverables.

Work Environment and Schedule

Work will be performed in an office environment during normal business hours. While we do provide a flexible schedule there may be occasions where a Technical Writer/Editor needs to modify their work schedule to meet obligations of a publication deadline.
