Knight Piésold Canada began operations in Vancouver, BC in 1975 and opened an office in North Bay, ON in 1994. We have nearly 225 employees supporting full-cycle project development in the mining, renewable energy, water resources, and civil infrastructure industries.
In the mining industry, we have worked on hundreds of surface and underground mining projects in BC, ON, across Canada, and globally. We provide specialized expertise in geotechnical engineering, waste and water management, hydrology, hydrogeology, rock mechanics, environmental baseline studies, and environmental and social impact assessments. In the renewable energy industry, we have been at the forefront in BC for over 30 years for hydropower development and are sought after for renewable energy expertise for local and international projects. We provide comprehensive renewable energy development services, from project identification, environmental studies, and permitting to detailed engineering, construction, and operational monitoring.
We have been recognized provincially and nationally for technical excellence on projects we have worked on. We achieved a remarkable double win in the Natural Resource & Habitat category at the 2025 Awards for Engineering Excellence. The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies British Columbia (ACEC-BC) presented Knight Piésold with both the Award of Merit for the Klamath River Renewal Project and the Award of Excellence for the Salton Sea Species Conservation Habitat Project.
Other projects that have received awards of merit and excellence include the 11 MW Azambi Hydroelectric Project, 16 MW Box Canyon Hydroelectric Project, Capilano Break Head Tank and Energy Recovery Facility, 45 MW Kokish River Hydroelectric Project, 235 MW East Toba and Montrose Hydroelectric Project, 60 MW Upper Stave Hydroelectric Project, Mount Milligan Waste and Water Management Plan, and 25 MW McNair Creek Hydroelectric Project.
