Knight Piésold Ghana was incorporated in 1996 and since then has been providing engineering and environmental consulting services within Ghana and neighboring West African countries. Our office in Accra, located close to the offices of major mining companies in the city, houses nearly 50 engineers, environmental scientists, and soils technicians.

The company consults for a significant number of mines in Ghana, growing as a recognized leader and specialist in mine tailings management within the country. Our mining expertise includes design, construction supervision, and management of tailings storage facilities; geotechnical site investigations; heap leach pad designs; and hydrological engineering, including water balance studies. Our environmental scientists provide a wide range of services, including the preparation environmental impact assessments to international standards, environmental audits, environmental management plans, and closure and costed reclamation plans. The company also operates a soils laboratory that works primarily in accordance to British Standards and carries out a complete set of soil and aggregate classification tests and specific soil strength tests.

Recent project experience includes design and QA/QC services for tailings storage facilities for the Nzema Gold Mine, Damang Gold Mine, Wassa Gold Mine, and Chirano Gold Mine in Ghana; a geotechnical site investigation and laboratory testing for the Tasiast Mine in Mauritania; and a scoping study for an environmental and social impact assessment for the a floating LNG re-gasification plant in Ghana.
