July 16, 2025, Lima, Peru – Knight Piésold Peru took part in Expominas 2025, held in Quito, Ecuador from July 9 to 11, showcasing technical expertise through both an interactive exhibition booth and a technical presentation. General Manager Guillermo Barreda, along with senior leadership comprising Engineering Manager Rubén Vargas, Environmental Manager Francisco García, Engineering Project Manager Elio Murrugarra, and Marketing Lead Alessandra Acosta, attended the three-day conference.

Barreda highlighted the need for integrating region-specific criteria when selecting locations for tailings dams, including mountainous terrain with steep slopes, high seismicity, intense rainfall, El Niño phenomenon, detailed water management, environmental and social considerations, community proximity, and potential informal mining presence. The presentation engaged clients, government authorities, and industry leaders in technical dialogue on best practices and future trends when locating tailings dams.
