Robert Greyling

Robert Greyling is the Section Manager of Dams and Hydro of Knight Piésold South Africa and is based in the Pretoria office. He has over 12 years of experience in dams and hydropower engineering.

He has designed all types of dams, ranging between 5 m to 260 m in height. His experience extends from reconnaissance, feasibility, and detailed design studies, through to construction implementation and project management.

His fields of expertise include heavy reinforced concrete structural design, tunnel and shaft design, hydraulic design, and structural finite element analyses of dams.

He is actively engaged in hydropower and has worked on mini to large hydro installations. This includes due diligence assessments of existing installations, detailed design, transient analyses, energy simulations, economic evaluations, and construction supervision of HEPP schemes in Southern and Central Africa

Recent assignments include the 11 MW Azambi Hydropower Station for Kibali Gold Mine in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the 38-km-long Polihali Transfer Tunnel for Phase 2 of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project.
