Project Overview

The project is located on a flat to rolling, desert-like plain in the Gash-Barka Region of Eritrea, 237 km by road from the capital, Asmara. The Bisha open pit is located within the ephemeral Freketetet River drainage. Ore extracted from the Harena deposit will be trucked using a haul road between the Harena deposit and the Bisha Main site for processing. Waste rock is moved and hauled to multiple rock storage facilities. The tailings management facility is located approximately 1 km to the north of the process plant location. 

Project Role

Knight Piésold was appointed to compile the conceptual closure plan and closure cost model for the Bisha Mine in accordance to compliance with good management practices, international guidelines, and Eritrean regulations for closure of mining projects.
