Project Overview
The Pirquitas Mine is located in the Puna de Jujeña region of northwestern Argentina, in the province of Jujuy.
Project Role
Knight Piésold developed the detailed engineering of the works defined in the Closing Plan, mainly intended for the management of uncontacted waters. These works included the hydraulic and structural design of the following types of hydraulic works:
- Open pipes with concrete siding
- Capture screens
- Works of mouthpiece and channeling
- Works for flood control
The engineering development mainly considered the following activities:
- Background analysis
- Geotechnical studies
- Geological studies
- Geophysical studies
- Development of plans, calculation reports, technical specifications, quality assurance control manual and reports
