Project Overview

The 20 MW Carhuac Hydroelectric Project is a run-of-river facility on the Macachaca River, a tributary of the Santa Eulalia River. The project diverts flow from a diversion weir, through a 2.8-km-long buried steel penstock to a surface powerhouse in the lower reach of the river, all along the northern slope of the Macachaca River valley. The project is then interconnected to a 60 kV transmission system via a new 60 kV line and interconnecting substation.
