April 28, 2026, Accra, Ghana – Knight Piésold Ghana commemorated three decades of exceptional service to the mining industry with a week-long anniversary celebration from 13 to 19 April 2026. This milestone represents a significant achievement for the company, which since its inception in 1996, has grown from its early operations to become a leading engineering and environmental consultancy serving clients in Ghana and the broader West African region.
“Celebrating 30 years reflects the dedication and expertise of our team, past and present,” said Ama Nketiah, Regional Manager of Knight Piésold Ghana. “Through our commitment to technical excellence and client service, we have become the region’s leading specialist in tailings and mine waste management. From our office in Accra, our team of nearly 50 engineers, environmental scientists, and laboratory technicians continues to contribute to the success of West Africa’s mining industry, and we are proud of the legacy we are building together.”
The Knight Piésold Ghana team came together with valued clients to celebrate three decades of growth and resilience. Throughout the week, activities fostered unity and well-being, including themed dress-up days celebrating favourite football teams and Ghanaian cultural heritage, a wellness screening program, and a Global Fun Run connecting the Knight Piésold team worldwide.
The anniversary week culminated in a reception attended by team members, their families, and clients. Featuring speeches and entertainment, the evening recognised team contributions and the client partnerships that have been instrumental to Knight Piésold Ghana’s success over the years.
Knight Piésold Ghana’s first major projects included the Obuasi, Konongo, and Prestea Sankofa gold mines; the Awaso bauxite mine; and the Nsuta manganese mine. Since then, the company has continued supporting mining operations while expanding its services through the establishment of a state-of-the-art soils laboratory and an environmental department. Today, Knight Piésold Ghana serves numerous mining operations across West Africa, including the Ahafo, Bibiani, Bogoso, Chirano, Damang, and Wassa gold mines in Ghana; the Essakane gold mine in Burkina Faso; the Tongon gold mine in Côte d’Ivoire; the Etéké gold project in Gabon; the Karita gold project in Guinea; and the Iguidi gold project in Mauritania, among others. The company’s expertise extends beyond mining to the power and infrastructure industries, with projects including the Tema Liquefied Natural Gas facility and the Northern Ghana Roads development.
In addition to its technical work, Knight Piésold Ghana demonstrates a strong commitment to social responsibility through its Schools Initiative Programme (SIP), launched in 2012 to inspire students from government-assisted senior high schools in Accra to pursue careers in engineering. Initially focused on practical mathematics and science applications through debates, quizzes, and design contests, the SIP has since expanded to include donations of educational materials and classroom equipment to participating schools. With plans to expand nationwide, the SIP continues to support the next generation of civil and geotechnical engineers.
Anniversary celebrations will continue throughout 2026 with the annual SIP and Client Engagement event. As Knight Piésold Ghana enters its fourth decade of operations, the company is well-positioned for continued growth and innovation, building on its enduring legacy and strong corporate culture, and guided by its core values of unity, openness, ingenuity, and excellence.
